The Magic Of Hemp
As I have mentioned before, Jordan and Jane’s Tea Collection are all hemp based tea products. We support the entire cannabis plant whether it is grown as hemp or as marijuana. However Jordan and Jane’s tea collection right now is hemp only. Throughout these last few months of giving my teas out I have noticed that a reoccurring conversation I have had with consumers goes something like this:
You say: “Will this tea get me high?”
I respond: “No, my tea is made with hemp not marijuana.”
Then you respond: “Well, what is the difference?”
Let me give you a run down. Most marijuana is grown with the intention to hold a very high thc content. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) contains mostly all of the psychoactive effects in the cannabis plant. Right now we have chemists in our world that extract the plant down in order to have a more effective high. Extracts can be up to 50-75% thc and if you do not want to feel the physiological effects of the plant than I would suggest staying away from extracts. CBD is another part of the cannabis plant that is now finally surfacing as a huge medical benefit from the plant. According to The British Pharmacological Society: “CBD acts in some experimental models as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, anti-oxidant, anti-emetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent, and is therefore a potential medicine for the treatment of neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting and nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia, respectively.” You can read the whole article here: THC and CBD are both cannabinoids found in marijuana flower. But hemp is found in the stems, the roots and all other parts of the plant. Hemp is where the real magic comes in.
The Magic of Hemp.
Hemp is an extraction from the stem of the marijuana plant. Hemp farmers enjoy growing the hemp plant because the intention is just to grow it as tall and strong as possible. There is little to no maintenance put into the cultivation of the hemp plant, whereas growing marijuana has a long list of do’s and don’ts. Hemp is the fiber of the cannabis plant usually a cannabis sativa. This fiber is used for rope, paper, building materials, and fabrics and can legally be created into virtually anything. There are many companies that have recognized the benefit of hemp. The Hemp Builder builds houses completely made out of hemp. There are many other people who have recognized the creations they can make with shirts, pants, sweatshirts and all other fabrics for clothes, blankets, etc. The Jungmaven is a company that shows off their love and support for hemp. All of these manufactured goods that I talk about, it all come from the same plant. How magical is that!! And I haven’t even touched on hemp foods and the digestion of hemp products. Hemp seeds are an excellent source for omega-3 fatty acids. They are also a great source of protein and contain potassium, calcium, iron and zinc amongst many others.. If you added hemp seeds into your natural daily diet and included other plant based ingredients in your diet I believe that you would see a drastic change in your energy. I am actually going to try that and will keep you posted. My friend Carla, creator of Hemp Way Foods, has taken a beautiful spin on hemp food products. You can check our her website here. There are many different ways to use this plant and I believe that if we as a community came together and really recognized this we could change the course of the world. Keep researching here!
